Swiss Ground Staff CLA 2027 Assessment: Sounding Board Calls for Improvements!

Esteemed colleagues,

Last week, the third full-day negotiation round for the Swiss CLA 2027 took place, followed by a meeting of the Sounding Board (SB). In the meantime, the SEV-GATA negotiating delegation continued its preparations, including coordination and planning with the other trade unions. We also requested documents, statistics, and data from the company for analysis to draw conclusions.

One thing is becoming clear at this point: The first effects of our petition are visible! Although no actual agreement has yet been reached, solutions are starting to emerge regarding the reduction of weekly working hours as well as compensatory days within Technical Operations. Compromises on certain monetary matters also appear to be within reach.

The Sounding Board was presented with a possible package of improvements. This package was based on the latest offer from Swiss, but had already been significantly expanded by the trade unions. Swiss has not yet given its approval.

While acknowledging the interim progress achieved through these efforts “in difficult times”, the general direction within the Sounding Board was unmistakable: Further improvements are essential, otherwise there will be heavy resistance.

The SEV-GATA negotiating delegation will coordinate the additional demands with the other associations and submit them to Swiss.

We have no shortage of strong arguments to support our demands in the negotiations. As a first tangible demonstration that these improvements are essential, members can express their support by signing our petition (see Special Member Mail of 6 May). The collection of signatures will continue until 29 May 2026. Preparations are already underway for handing over the petition to Swiss management.

The significant increase in membership proves that, standing together side by side with you, we are prepared to spare no effort in representing your interests until our goals are achieved.

While employees in technical professions are making their concerns heard, interest among office-based employees remains limited. A planned meeting for members and interested colleagues unfortunately had to be cancelled due to insufficient registrations.

There is still time to make your voice heard through membership, signing the petition, and participating in upcoming events: Swiss ground staff need a noticeable improvement in working conditions through a strong CLA 2027!

Thank you for your trust and your commitment to a strong CLA!

SEV-GATA, close to its members and committed to your interests as part of Switzerland’s largest and strongest transport workers’ union, with international connections: SEV-GATA, your union in aviation!

Kind regards,
