Member Mail 1 / 2020

Dear Colleagues

Let’s start the new year with fresh energy! Our collective transport system remains a key factor in our country’s success. We can visit people in other countries at affordable costs. But what if the prices get too low? Will it harm our working conditions? And will aviation manage to become more environmentally friendly?

As a trade union, we strive to safeguard long-term workplaces with fair working conditions while still allowing for affordable travel. If we want to ensure this stays like this in the future, the aviation sector must address climate change and develop appropriate solutions. This issue will also be discussed in public in 2020.

Reminder: Swiss CLA Adjustments
We have already informed you in our last member mail that our CLA with Swiss can be terminated for the first time in mid-2020 by the end of 2020. Please get in touch with us directly or with our trusted representatives if you have any thoughts on this. We are looking forward to your feedback! The SEV-GATA committee will then evaluate the pros and cons of various scenarios.

Results of Wage Negotiations With ISS
We have successfully completed our constructive negotiations with ISS. The following improvements for 2020 were agreed upon:

  • General wage increase per 1 January 2020 (CHF 25.- per month for employees with monthly wages and CHF 00.20 for employees with hourly wages)
  • 10 days of paternity leave per 1 January 2020
  • Raising of the wage scale for all employees who are not at the maximum of their wage bracket (according to CLA)

CLA Negotiations With Swissport Geneva
The CLA negotiations in progress were an important topic in our last member mail. In the meantime, we have successfully contacted CRCT and were able to secure a partial victory:

  • Prolongation of both CLA by 9 months until 30 September 2020
  • A wage increase of 0.6% for employees with monthly wages and a one-time bonus for employees with hourly wages
  • Managers and unions will appoint a mediator together.

Membership Fees for Former PUSH Companies
The regular membership fee for members of SEV-GATA (degree of employment min. 50%) is CHF 18.40 per month (plus performance costs). Members from former PUSH areas (ISS, Priora, and Swissport) benefit from reduced fees according to the transitional regulations. We aim to level out membership fees for all members in the aviation sector. In 2020, the transitional fee is CHF 15.00 per month (CHF 7.50 for retired members and part-time employees who work less than 50%).
