Dear Colleagues

As the summer heat is breaking records in Switzerland, passengers and employees of the aviation industry are wondering about the industry’s effects on global warming.

Sustainability Measures in Aviation
It is a fact that aviation is responsible for a relatively small percentage of CO2 emissions, however, that percentage can be influenced personally by each individual. As a unionist, I try to use my position as a member of parliament to convince the Confederation of promoting innovative sustainability measures in aviation. Passengers should be able to explore the world with a clean conscience. This must not become a privilege reserved for elitist big income earners in the future.

Swiss: Quality Remains Important
It is difficult to say how traffic density, time pressure on the ground, or the development of working conditions affect the quality at Swiss. A successful airline like Swiss must focus on keeping its status as a premium airline. “Incidents” should be avoided whenever possible. Good working conditions are still the key to a future in which passengers feel safe and welcome on board and tell their friends and families about their positive travel experience.

Swissport Zurich: Repetition of PEKO Elections in Electoral Circle 8
Due to an objection, the electoral committee and the social partners have decided to repeat the PEKO elections in electoral circle 8. We are very happy to announce that our two SEV-GATA candidates Iljham Mustafi and Oliver Passaglia have been elected for the two available seats on the PEKO. We would like to congratulate you both and wish you a good start in office!

Swissport Geneva: CLA Negotiations
In Geneva, union delegates of SEV-GATA and SSP have taken up negotiations with Swissport about the new CLA. The SEV-GATA delegates were able to present their list of demands at the first meeting. Furthermore, a calendar of the upcoming negotiations has been put into place.

Survey of Swiss Employees
Many people have completed our survey about “Travel and Clothes Change Time”. Once we have evaluated the results, we will define new time values and present Swiss with our findings and necessary measures by the end of the summer. The feedback we got from the meetings with Line Maintenance shows the importance of this issue. We will answer any questions. If you are still waiting for an answer, please repeat your questions via e-mail to or to .

New Union Secretaries in Lausanne/Geneva and Zurich
Two new union secretaries have joined our aviation team: Markus Cadosch has started working at the regional office in Zurich on 1 February 2019; Patricia Alcaraz joined the regional office in Lausanne on 1 March 2019 (replacing Tony Mainolfi, who has switched over to administration).
Union secretary Markus Cadosch is responsible for Swiss employees in Zurich [among other things: Technics/Maintenace (working times and shift work), legal protection cases and as a first contact for trusted representatives and PEKO members]. Union secretary Patricia Alcaraz cares for all aviation sectors in western Switzerland, especially the social partnerships with Swissport GVA, Swiss GVA, ISS GVA and Priora.
Regula Pauli is head of the dossier “Swissport & SBS ZRH”, while Philipp Hadorn is responsible for the entire aviation sector, the section and the social partnerships with Swiss and the SWP Group.

Our visit to the SBB service facility Zürich Herdern (Zurich-Altstetten) provided us with valuable insights into Maintenance at SBB before our 2019 GM on 23 May. Thank you for this good and constructive exchange!

It is the number of members that give a union its strength. Are you with us yet? Have you told your colleagues about the advantages of a membership with SEV-GATA? Because at SEV-GATA, members acquire members!

Thank you for your support!

Sunny regards,

Philipp Hadorn, President
