SEV-GATA Special Member Mail 2026_01_15

CLA 2027 Swiss Ground Staff

Esteemed colleagues,

We hope you have had a great start to the new year! For SEV-GATA and Swiss employees, 2026 will be a particularly important year as we will be negotiating the 2027 CLA for Swiss ground staff. Many of you took part in our survey in December 2025 – thank you very much for your participation.

Implications from our survey:

The participants of our survey listed the following priorities:

1. Fair pay
2. Appropriate allowances
3. Reduction of weekly/annual working hours
4. Pre-defined wage development

Around 78% of participants stated that they would be willing to take part in protest assemblies if required, and 71% would participate in warning strikes.

Approximately 93% prefer to receive information on the current state of the CLA process by email; around 47% also appreciate information events or online meetings.

The open question reply boxes were used extensively. These covered a wide range of general concerns, as well as particular, job-specific issues (e.g. the abolition of additional days, among others).

The results will be presented in detail to the members of the “Sounding Board Swiss CLA 2027”.

Next steps:

In collaboration with our partner unions, we will finalise our list of demands based on the survey by early February 2026 and present it to Swiss.

A schedule of negotiation dates with Swiss has been agreed. Between each round of negotiations, the Sounding Board will convene, followed by a special member mail for your information. (The content of these special member mails will be designed in a way that supports the negotiations and represents your interests.)

We are also planning to hold local assemblies/information events as well as online exchange meetings.

Depending on the course of negotiations and any escalation scenarios, information on possible forms of protest will follow. These will always be discussed within the Sounding Board ahead of time.

It is true: We are facing an exciting new year. Despite these rapidly changing times, we must ensure that Swiss ground staff are offered appropriate working conditions. We can only achieve this through our joint solidarity. It will be a challenging, but worthwhile journey. We are stronger together – currently in negotiations and, if necessary, with protest measures. If neither of these paths result in an acceptable solution, the option of further escalation remains.

We are ready and expect Swiss to take a solution-oriented approach and secure the necessary additional investment in its employees through a modern CLA.

As a member, you help shape our positions. As a member, you receive first-hand information on where we stand. As a member, you approve the results through a ballot vote. As a member, you determine the level of escalation if negotiations stall.

A successful outcome also depends on our level of organisation and lived solidarity – for a strong CLA!

SEV-GATA – close to our members, committed to your interests.
