SEV-GATA Member Mail July 2026

New CLA for Swiss Ground Staff from 1 January 2027
Meeting Members at the General Meeting and Information Events

Dear colleagues,

Over the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to meet many of you in person. Both the inspiring SEV-GATA General Meeting, including the tour of Zurich Main Station, and the numerous information events held in the run-up to the ballot on the new CLA for Swiss ground staff gave me the chance to do

These meetings made one thing particularly clear: many of our members are not familiar with the day-to-day work of the union, nor with the importance of employee representation and the processes involved in collective bargaining. We also had stimulating discussions about the extent to which those affected are willing to commit themselves and accept certain risks to achieve improvements in working conditions. Thank you for helping to shape fair working conditions! We look forward to your continued commitment in the future.

With a voter turnout of 78,1%, SEV-GATA members at Swiss approved the 2027 CLA by 62,1% in favour and 37,9% against.

As a result, significant improvements will come into force, including the reduction of working hours from 1 January 2027, as well as a range of further improvements no later than 1 January 2028 (the full list can be found in the press release ‘SEV-GATA Members Approve the New CLA’).

As announced, we will continue to pursue targeted improvements throughout the duration of the new CLA. Important priorities remain the review of individual job evaluations, the correct recognition of years of experience, and, of course, the annual salary negotiations.

SEV-GATA – close to our members, committed to your interests, part of Switzerland’s largest and strongest transport workers’ union, and connected through international networks: SEV-GATA – your union in aviation!

Kind regards,

Philipp Hadorn, President SEV-GATA & SEV Union Secretary
