13th OASI Pension: Successful Trade Unions
Lower Insurance Premiums, Higher Salaries! – Labour Day 2024 and Popular Vote on 9 June New GATA Trusted Representative: Sandro Kern

Dear Colleagues

Our initiative has been successful: A clear majority of voters demand an additional, 13th OASI pension starting in 2026. This is a great success for various reasons:

  1. Many retirees are in desperate need of more money in their pockets.
  2. The unions have proven their ability to mobilise a majority of voters, which is an exceptional achievement when it comes to initiatives.
  3. This strengthens our other demands for wage protection within an EU framework agreement – we are no longer willing to sacrifice the employees’ interests in favour of the economy.

And don’t worry about the 13th OASI pension being paid out to people who don’t need it: Those with high incomes will have to pay a considerable part back in the form of taxes. 

Lower Insurance Premiums, Higher Salaries!
This year’s Labour Day slogan is based on this streak of success: The unions’ numerous demonstrations and celebrations are taking place in various places across the country. You will find further information about the local events online at www.sgb.ch in due time.

On 9 June, there will be a national vote on reducing health insurance premiums to a maximum of 10% of a person’s income.

New Trusted Representative
During their March meeting, the SEV-GATA Executive Committee members have elected Sandro Kern as a new trusted representative unanimously.

Sandro, 27 years old, is a licenced B1 airplane mechanic and works the day shift at Swiss. He is open to receiving your questions and issues. Congratulations, we are looking forward to working with you!
