PUSH members integrated into SEV-GATA
Dear colleagues
Within a few weeks we have been experiencing crucial votes outside the Swiss borders, on this side and the other side of the «pond». Not only our colleagues of Alitalia are experiencing the consequences of policy, but also in Switzerland we are told the truth.
1st May with a Message
I am positive that most of you went through the streets yesterday, taking the slogan of the May 1st rally «Zukunft für alle, sozialer, gerechter» («future for all, more social justice») to the places of assembly and community premises of our towns and villages.
There were lots of topics:
- Pension reform with some improvements to ensure old-age provision for the next generation.
- Equal pay, still not being implemented. Accompanying measures for mass immigration initiative to limit at least part of the adverse effects for men and economy.
- Energy strategy, proving a minimum of responsibility towards nature and preserving the basic needs of future generations.
- A counterpoint to the neoliberal agenda, ensuring that globalization does not endanger our existence.
PUSH Members Integrated into SEV-GATA
After the members of the PUSH staff association had voted in a ballot to become part of SEV-GATA, and after the members of SEV-GATA had come to the resolution in a regular general meeting to take them over, we can make the following announcement to an interested public:
PUSH staff association will be integrated into SEV-GATA, the air transport section of the SEV.
From July 1, 2017 the members of PUSH staff association will be integrated into SEV-GATA, the air transport section of the SEV transport staff union. With this step PUSH will be professionalized, and SEV-GATA succeeds in strengthening the degree of organization of aviation employees. At the same time the approximately 500 former PUSH members will become part of the union movement which belongs to the SGB Swiss union association.
«With this step towards integration into the SEV, the SEV-GATA section, our members are offered a professional representation and a wide range of services», says Werner Köppel, president of PUSH, an organization of staff members of Swissport, Swiss, Priora and ISS.
«Strengthening air transport in the SEV shows that with SEV-GATA the SEV is now firmly established and organizes the staff members of all sectors of collective transport – in air transport already since 2001», says Philipp Hadorn, president SEV-GATA and union secretary SEV, also in charge of other sectors of the SEV.
«The integration into our organization wanted by PUSH shows which radiation intensity the SEV has on all transport sectors, extending far beyond the limits of the SGB-trade unions», says Giorgio Tuti, president SEV and Vice president SGB, welcoming the efforts of PUSH.
After the SEV commission had given its consent «carte blanche» to the extension a few months ago, 99 % of the PUSH members voted in a ballot in favor of the integration, and the motion was carried unanimously by the members of SEV-GATA during their general meeting this week. «In future close cooperation with other unions and staff associations will be most important to ensure that we continue improving the working conditions of our members in a constructive contract partnership with the companies», emphasizes Philipp Hadorn.
Dear colleagues, with this motivating step it’s now even more rewarding to take care of the legitimate claims of our members and to win new workmates over to the union with self-confidence in order to make them become part of SEV-GATA’s success story, too.
