SEV-GATA demands development of Swiss ground staff as well

Development as a chance for Swiss
The good annual figures and the expansion of the fleet offer a chance which cannot be missed within the Lufthansa Group. This is claimed by SEV-GATA, the aviation sector of the transport staff union SEV.

Regarding the annual figures presented today he is convinced that ?further plans to concentrate and streamline the organization within the Lufthansa Group cannot be made at the expense of the successful industrial base in Switzerland but for the benefit of Swiss.”

For SEV-GATA, representing the non-flying staff, it’s essential that the expansion of the fleet must have consequences on the ground, too. “Increasing cockpit- and cabin personnel is only one part of it, also ground staff must be part of the developments of course”, Philipp Hadorn explains.

By the way the positive annual results show that there’ll be room for wage negotiations next fall. Hadorn recalls that Swiss has granted no or very little wage increases over the past years and that the terms of employment are in need of improvement. Thanks to the long-lasting success of Swiss times have changed: “Swiss has successfully managed restructurings, now everybody should profit from the positive development!” He also reminded the Lufthansa Group of investment incentives still outstanding, after all Swiss had only been successful due to enormous amounts of taxpayers’ money.
