SEV-GATA welcomes wage settlement with Swiss

More Money for Swiss Ground Staff

All Swiss ground staff will get minimum 50 Francs more per month next year. In some cases the pay rise may amount to 5 percent, although a few special cases are excluded from the increase. SEV-GATA is quite happy with the result.

For Philipp Hadorn, president of SEV-GATA and SEV union secretary, this settlement is a success: «Even though there are individual reasons for exclusion, one can say that it’s basically a general wage increase of 50 Francs. » For all staff the pay rise will amount to 1.5 %, however individual leads may reach up to 5 percent.

«In the past ground staff didn’t get the improvements of their working conditions they deserved. All the more we are happy that we have now gained a certain recognition as far as wages are concerned», Hadorn adds. The latest general wage adjustment in the amount of 1 % was made within the framework of the new CLA in July 2014 and backdated to 1 January 2014.

Hadorn regrets that about 100 employees have been excluded from this pay rise: «Life will become more expensive for everybody! » After all the solution as a whole is essential, it means an improvement for approximately 1300 persons. Further the unions have reached that in special cases those who have been excluded from the pay rise may be individually appraised and corrected. In addition Swiss must account for the 1.5 % increase agreed upon being really put into effect.

The new wages will be paid out beginning January 2016. In 2017 new wage talks will be reopened.
