SEV-GATA concerned about Swiss’ CLA policy

Swiss in conflict with all staff categories

Swiss’ conflict with all staff categories is in stark contrast to its economic success. After cancelling the CLA with ground staff Swiss pulls off a new coup: Swiss cancels both CLAs with cabin staff and announces taking on more staff outside the current CLA. Employees are increasingly worried.

«Step by step Swiss is destabilizing the working conditions of its whole staff and is uttering threats», criticized Philipp Hadorn, SEV-GATA president and SEV trade union secretary.

In spite of the concessions made by ground staff Swiss cancelled the CLA effective end of June 2014. Mid-March a clear rebuff was delivered to the CLA results for pilots’ associations by the rank and file just as to the deal negotiated for cabin staff end of March. By cancelling both CLAs for cabin staff yesterday Swiss continues aiming deliberately for confrontation.

Strict silence is to be maintained during the ongoing CLA negotiations for ground staff so far.

By continually outsourcing and threatening to employ more cabin staff outside the existing CLA Swiss seems to substantiate its new collision course against employees and union representatives. With a monthly minimum wage of currently CHF 3369 (x 13) for ground staff Swiss tends to precarious employment conditions, too.

«Being financed by the state with billions of tax money Swiss is supposed to offer fair working conditions and to cultivate good labour relations particularly as a Lufthansa subsidiary», Philipp Hadorn added in his capacity as member of the National Council.
