SEV-GATA regrets shutdown at Euroairport
End in disaster at Euroairport
As suspected Lufthansa Technik Switzerland will shut down at Basle airport. SEV-GATA regrets the job cuts but acknowledges the company’s clear commitment to saving jobs. During the last stage the union has reached adequate solutions for a lot of employees concerned.
“The end was unavoidable now“, says Philipp Hadorn, president of SEV-GATA and SEV union secretary. The announcement of Lufthansa Technik Switzerland (LTSW) early in January was a clear indication that the company didn’t see any more prospects, after orders had failed to come in from other airlines.
SEV-GATA has always been fighting for the interests of those concerned during the gradual decline of LTSW and reached that the company went beyond its original offers. Also at the present and last stage SEV-GATA succeeded in getting again about half the staff taken over by Swiss.
Nevertheless, many other dismissals that may lead to cases of hardship are to come. Therefore SEV-GATA demands that LTSW as part of the Lufthansa-group sticks by its social responsibility to the end and offers individually adequate solutions.
SEV-GATA is always available for its members with advice and support.
