Wage Negotiations at Swiss
Peko Elections Swiss
Uncertainties at Swissport Zurich
Granola Bar Promotion
Dear Colleagues
This year's autumnal wage negotiations are quite demanding. The inflation rate is dropping to pre-pandemic levels, but employees know they will face a plethora of financial challenges anyway: Health insurance premiums, rents and other costs are on the rise. Neither a compensation for October inflation in Switzerland of 0.6% nor the forecast 1.2% for 2024 will be enough to maintain purchasing power in the coming year.
Wage Negotiations at Swiss
We had good reason for the joint submission of a wage request by the social partners based on the demand of the Swiss Trade Union Confederation (SGB). In a mutually sincere search for a solution, Swiss company representatives demonstrated their willingness to reach a satisfactory conclusion this year.
With a general salary increase of 2%, with a minimum of CHF 100/month (for a full-time quota, times 13), we can maintain the purchasing power of the current year, even considering the drastically increasing health insurance premiums. The corresponding increase in wage bands forms the basis for a sustainable development of wages in the following years.
In our opinion, it would be advisable for Lufthansa to relax the requirements for Swiss a little and thus enable further wage adjustments.
From our perspective at SEV-GATA, this result is not exhilarating, but it is acceptable. It reflects the satisfactory economic situation of Swiss and the company's attractive image on the labor market. With their Christmas bonus, Swiss has an opportunity to prove their appreciation of employees.
Peko Elections at Swiss
We have received several candidacies for the Peko by-election, which is why there will be an official vote. We are happy to recommend our two SEV-GATA members Sava Nestorov and Nicole Neuenhöfer-da Silva Santos. If you are eligible to vote, Swiss will provide you with further information on the election. The election starts on November 13, 2024, and ends on November 29, 2024. We wish you every success and look forward to working with you!
Uncertainties at Swissport Zurich
Changes in workload, conflicts about wage measures and insufficient developments in working conditions lead to uncertainty for many employees at Swissport Zurich. SEV-GATA is committed to ensuring the safety and quality of working conditions for those affected. The fruits of our efforts are not always evident. We will remain adamant.
Granola Bar Promotion
