Demonstration on 19 September 2009 - a big success
CLA LTSW - ready to be signed
Swiss shift-adjustment: SECO special authorizations never again without consulting SEV- GATA
Dear members,
Jobs , wages and pensions - instead of profit and greed! Over 30'000 people followed the Swiss unions' call to come to Berne on 19 September 2009. Over 7'000 workers had already joined the previous SEV demonstration. The demonstrations clearly showed that employees and pensioners are really fed up with the Government . They won't tolerate that banks are being largely financed by the state, while very little economic packages are set up only reluctantly and hardly any additional backing is offered to thousands of people concerned. CLA LTSW - ready to be signed
After the staff meeting SEV-GATA members, working with LTSW, got the opportunity of voting on SEV-GATA's way of proceeding with the CLA talks. Over 70% voted for scenario 3: the existing CLA concept has to be accepted considering the current economic situation and any slight editorial and/or textual amendments.
The new CLA cannot be cancelled earlier than 30 September 2012 and guarantees the existing working conditions until then. Wage talks have to be held annually, profit sharing must be discussed with the unions, while working hours still have to be fixed.
The present contract will be signed 30 September 2009 and will become effective 1 October 2009.
Based on the above mentioned procedure we were able to secure the working conditions. Now we need to strengthen the power of the union and increase the number of members allowing us to hold successful wage talks and settle the question of the working hours.
Swiss shift-adjustments
A few years ago we learned that Swiss had applied to SECO for special authorization regarding shift work planning - and it was granted. After SEV-GATA had intervened SECO assured us that in future no such exemptions would be granted to Swiss without consulting SEV-GATA. Now there are applications for special authorizations on the way again. All SEV-GATA members concerned are kindly asked to inform us of any details.
In a conversation with Harry Hohmeister, Swiss and SEV-GATA agreed to check the possibility of co-operating closer together allowing us to represent aviation matters coordinately in the federal capital of Berne.
SEV-GATA recommends all colleagues entitled to vote in Switzerland to decide in favor of the parliamentary resolution providing special funding for air transport on 29 November 2009.
With committed regards,
SEV-GATA, your aviation union!
