Dear colleagues

An eventful year is coming to an end. The Swiss economy has seen fairly stable development despite the pandemic and the forecasts are looking solid. Nevertheless, the aviation industry is still in trouble.

Swiss: Social Partnership Needs Development
The political commitment of SEV-GATA during the Covid-19 crisis has benefitted Swiss considerably. Financial aid from the government, simplified and extended short-time work compensation and a crisis CLA are the milestones we have achieved. It is irritating that the Swiss Management Board (MB) with its new CEO broke their promise and decided to follow through with mass layoffs. Before, they had promised efforts to overcome the crisis without diminishing the workforce.

As an annex to the CLA, we have successfully negotiated a social plan with Swiss, which has now helped mitigate the consequences for those affected by the mass layoffs. The social plan is of impressive quality and it contains a sensible external outplacement offer. However, the reportings have shown that only a few people have made use of this offer. It is still possible to take advantage of these services and use them to help with professional reorientation.
We as a union are currently preparing the lawsuit against Swiss concerning the "Violation of the consultation procedure".

Swissport Zurich: Postcard Campaign
The next year will be filled with fundamental questions at Swissport. As part of our postcard campaign, the unions are sending a bouquet of demands and wishes from the employees to Swissport's management for Christmas. The employees of Swissport Zurich were informed in a separate e-mail campaign.

Collective Strength Is the Basis for the Future
2021 was not the first year to prove that it was only thanks to our collective strength that the erosion of the quality of working conditions during the crisis could largely be prevented. We are still stuck in this crisis and now is the time to further strengthen our collective strength in 2022 and to develop social progress. We want to support the expected ramp-up with a further expansion of our level of organization. Therefore: In the first half of 2022, all activists who convince a colleague of the "bouquet of advantages" of membership with SEV-GATA at work will receive a double advertising bonus – a total of CHF 100.00 per newly recruited member; a chance to make up for the loss of wages suffered through short-time work. Good luck!

Thanks!
We thank you very much for your active cooperation in 2021. The SEV-GATA team has also done exceptional work this year. Many thanks to Ariane, Regula, Sheila, Pablo, Patricia, Dominik, Andreas B., Bert, Thomas, Sandra, Andreas M., but also to our trusted representatives, Peko members and everyone at the Competence, Performance and Back Office Centers at SEV. If it were not for you, we could not have represented the interests of our members as successfully despite the crisis!

Thank you for your trust. We will take on the challenges of 2022 with passion, solidarity, commitment, consistency and fairness!

But now I wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2022!

Warmest regards,
